atmospheric firing

Atmospheric firing uses variables like wood ash or soda vapor in the kiln atmosphere to interact with the clay and glaze to create surface effects. The resulting surface is incredibly variable, with wood ash crystals, beautiful mattes, or dramatic flashes of the flame on clay.

These works were fired at Cobb Mountain Art and Ecology project in Loch Lomond, CA.
